OOM Policies

E-mail Print PDF

Membership

Members do not need to belong to any guild to be a member of Out of Mobs (OOM).  OOM is not a guild.  It is an organization and does not require guild affiliation.  Members of OOM are free to remain in their home guild or be part of no guild.  Membership provides full access to OOM raiding content and gives the member access to Phoenix Tear's guild bank resources, specifically including flasks and potions, enchants, etc.  Specific Guild Bank Policy information is contained below.

Our members are expected and encouraged to be polite and helpful.  We ask all members to keep language in chat and in TeamSpeak clean and appropriate for a family environment.  We have members who wish to enjoy polite language standards.  We also request that “hot-topic” issues, such as politics, religion, sex, etc, be kept out of chat and TeamSpeak.

Our goal is a membership of 50 to 75 members.

Organization Leadership:

All member of OOM will have the opportunity to be elected to offices of authority.  Although Phoenix Tear (PT) is sponsoring OOM, it is NOT run by PT.  OOM is run by its members.  Its officers are elected by its members.  With this in mind, it will be reasonable that some of the elected officers of OOM will be officers of PT, but we must all keep in mind that each is a separate organization and will require separate loyalties and dedications.  Officers must strive to avoid any appearance of impropriety or favoritism in the fulfillment of their office.

Offices and the members filling those offices will be posted in a prominent place so that members may always know who their officers are.  Members are encouraged to take their concerns and problems to any officers online, or to post their concerns to the Internal Affairs forum, once it is set up.

As OOM takes shape, the Officers Corps will take shape as the elected officers see to the needs of OOM.  At a minimum, positions should include President, Secretary, Treasurer/Banker and two Members at Large, or using such titles as the members and leadership of OOM may desire.

President – Responsible for the overall function and activity of OOM.

Secretary – Responsible for taking note of the minutes of the meetings and posting the minutes in a public place, providing openness and transparency for the members of OOM.

Treasurer/Banker – Responsible for ensuring that materials acquired on raids are banked and that materials for raids are available, such as flasks and potion injectors.

Members at Large – Responsible for assisting the other officers in providing for the success of OOM.

Attendance:

Attendance to any set number of raids is not mandatory, but we encourage members to sign up as often as other policies and their time allow.

Members are allowed to sign up for one raid per day of the week. If there are 4 raids in the week, members may sign up for all 4. If there are raids scheduled throughout the month, then the member may sign up for one at a time for each day, i.e. (s)he may sign up for one on Wednesday of this week and one on Thursday of next week, but not for one on Wednesday of this week and one on Wednesday of next week, unless they are completely different raids (by zone and time slot).

Signups for the following week's raid open up as soon as the raid starts the instance.

Looting:

We will be using SKG. We will have lists for 10 man instances, and for 25 man instances. Each category will have a Need List and a Tier List, Greed rolls for off-spec items that no one bids on. New members upon their first raid will automatically be rolled into the list at the bottom.

Greens will get disenchanted for the guild bank. Orbs are rolled on by selecting Greed.  Herbs/Leathers/Ores/etc will go to the guild bank.   Exceptions: for certain specific non-equipment items, such as tradeskill patterns, members will be allowed to select Greed if they are able to learn or use it immediately.

Raiding:

TeamSpeak is required for raiding, although a microphone is not mandatory.  Raiders are expected to be able to receive instructions over TS, as trying to communicate over chat would be unworkable.  Other addons or mods will be posted later in the forums.  Specialty chat channels, such as for healers, will be established later in the forums.

Out of Mobs will seek to rotate positions in the raid to give members the ability to develop and enjoy the various elements of raiding.  We will work to promote numerous tanks, healers, melee and dps so that we do not fall into certain positions always being filled by the same people.  This especially applies to tanks.

The Officers and Raid Leaders will work with all who wish to step up to important positions, such as tanking.  Please be open to recommendations and suggestions if you wish to take on important positions.  We wish to assist members to become top-notch raiders in all aspects of the raiding environment.

Raid Walk-through and Preparation:

We will establish a forum to assist members to prepare for the upcoming instance, especially as we prepare for new material.  This will include information about trash pulls and requirements for the boss fight, to include expectations for resistance gear, etc.  Links will be provided to other websites, such as WoWWiki or Elitist Jerks.  We expect raiders to do their homework just as seriously as we expect raiders to come to raids prepared with flasks, potions, buff foods, etc.

Positions of Raid authority:

We are always looking for people to step forward to fill positions of authority. Most clearly, we are always happy to develop Raid Leaders and Assistant Raid Leaders. We also hope people will step into leadership within specific class/mission categories, such as Healing Leader or Ranged DPS Leader.

Raid Leader - Responsible for scheduling the time of the event, selecting an Assistant Raid Leader, seeing to the manning of the event with all classes necessary to the raid, assembling the raid at the summoning stone in a timely manner, delegating any responsibilities (s)he regards as reasonable such as class/mission leaders. RL's are responsible for discipline and have authority as delimited below. RL's are responsible for strategy and tactics in instances, including marking targets, placement of personnel, and other issues they deem necessary for the orderly accomplishment of the raid. The RL is responsible for setting raid difficulty (Normal/Heroic) and for setting Master Looter and assigning the ARL as ML.

Assistant Raid Leader - Responsible to assist the Raid leader in all his assigned functions. Additionally, the ARL is specifically responsible for Master Looter. The ARL will coordinate with the RL to make sure he has SKG and all loot tables updated prior to commencement of the raid. The ARL will take bids and will assign items according to winning bids based on SKG.

Additional Leadership Positions - Additional positions will be assigned as necessary, preferably from acknowledged class leaders, to positions such as Healing Leader or Melee Leader. These leaders should be acknowledged as competent in their class, informed in the strategies of the instance, and knowledgeable of the abilities of other classes with similar missions, i.e. Healing Leaders should know the dynamics and abilities of druid, paladin, priest and shaman healers.

Ten person raids may have only a Raid Leader and Assistant Raid Leader. Twenty-five person raids may have only the RL and ARL, or may have all class leaders as well, at the discretion of the RL in charge.

Recruitment for Leadership:

We are always happy to have people step forward to claim positions of leadership, whether as RL, ARL, or class leaders. We will formulate procedures to evaluate and assist people to grow into these positions.

Raid Leader Authority:

Raid Leaders have the authority to remove upon their discretion disruptive members of the raid. Examples of grounds for removal are:

Challenging RL strategy or assignments over TS.
Challenging RL strategy or assignments in raid chat.
Challenging how often we're going to attempt a boss in TS or raid chat.
Challenging how fast or slow we are going.
Negative comments/naysaying.

For those members who wish to ask for additional assistance or make recommendations, there are specific chat channels to do so: Help, Healers, Melee, Ranged, Tank (prefaced by the new acronym)

Raid Discipline:

Raid communication requires channels to be relatively free of "noise." Thus, raid chat and TeamSpeak should be primarily used for direct communication of pertinent information directly relating to the management and implementation of raid requirements. Therefore, it is necessary for raid members to recognize when to keep "noise" to a minimum, so that instructions and necessary observations can be clearly effected. On the other hand, our goal is for raiding to be fun as well, therefore we accept that there are appropriate times for camaraderie and playfulness on both TS and in raid chat. Please be responsible to recognize the difference.

Raid Discipline requires that members recognize and follow the orders of the Raid Leader. Recognize that there is a structure in place to bring up questions, to post observations, to make suggestions. Please, do not circumvent the structures that are in place to take your suggestions directly to the Raid Leader unless you are placed in a position of responsibility with the assignment to inform and advise the Raid Leader. These assignments are the ARL, the Healing, Melee, Ranged and Tank leaders. If you have a pertinent suggestion, it should be brought to your proper team leader to be incorporated as that leader sees fit. Circumventing your team leader weakens his/her ability to do the job, causes disruption to the order and regulation of the raid, and unduly burdens the Raid Leader with responding to too many voices at once.

For those members who wish help beyond the Raid Leader's instructions, there are additional channels from which to seek that help. There are your mission specific channels, such as Healer/Melee/Ranged/Tank, and there is the Help channel. If your question is specific to your mission, ask there, if it is in regard to a more overall understanding, feel free to ask in the Help channel. About the only time a question should be asked in the Raid channel or on TS is if there is serious room for clarification for everyone in the raid. It will be more likely that such a general question will be addressed by one of the mission leaders; they will probably be concerned with the implementation of strategy for all of their mission class. We do not wish to muzzle you; we wish to keep cross-talk minimized for clarity.

Raid After Action Reports:

The RL will discuss the raid with those interested after the raid is completed. The RL will be responsible for posting on the Raids forum the WoWWebStats from that raid, along with a synopsis of the raid itself. This Raid forum thread is a good place for feedback and recommendations about strategies

The RL may ask another member to provide the writeup for the raid after action report, based on participation and the after-raid discussion.

Threads may be initiated on the OOM raid forum to discuss strategies and tactics for specific classes or functions by any individual. Discussions concerning spell/combo rotations, etc., are welcome and encouraged.

Guild Bank Policies:

Phoenix Tear is opening it's guild bank up to all members of OOM with all policies and procedures in place for members of Phoenix Tear.  Specifically, members of OOM have full access to flasks, potions and elixirs at the same price members of PT pay – half the average price of the Auction House.  Members of OOM have full access to enchantments and item buffs (spell threads, armor patches, etc) at the same half price policy.  This policy extends to all guild bank assets that improve the members of OOM's raiding.

With this in mind, this is the reason that greens are disenchanted and all herbs/ores/leathers go to the Phoenix Tear bank, to facilitate the lower prices we offer to all members of OOM.

Final Thoughts:

Out of Mobs is here to have fun!  Let's all work toward that goal!
